If you’re a racing fan, you’ll get your winnings from fixed odds racing bets faster, with the arrival of Express Payout.

Fixed Odds win, place (including Top2, Top3 & Top4), and Fixed Odds exotics are now paid once the result is “provisional” rather than “confirmed”. This means you can get your winnings two or three minutes after a race, rather than five or six.

While other operators have a similar situation to Express Payout for fixed odds win bets, we’re launching Express Payout on almost all of our Fixed Odds markets.

Because of the quicker payout, we’ve also made things easier when it comes to a protest. The provisional result won’t always be the final result. But we’ve simplified things - if there’s a change in placings, we’ll pay on both results.

That means if your horse or greyhound is relegated, you will still be paid out your winnings, and those who had the runner that was promoted in their bets will get paid out too.

You can find out more about Express Payout in the FAQs below.

FAQs:

What is “Express Payout”?
From Tuesday, 27 September, TAB NZ will be paying out almost all types of Final Field fixed odds racing bets based on the provisional result. This includes Final Field Win & Place options, Top 2 and Top 4, Starting Price (SP) bets and Fixed Odds Exotics (Exacta, Quinella, Trifecta and First4). Winsurance is not eligible for Express Payout for now.

I’ve put a bet on through the tote - will I get this bet paid out when the provisional result is declared?
Express Payout is only available for Fixed Odds betting. Tote bets will be paid out when the official result is confirmed.

How long will it take for my winning bet to pay out?
Generally, you will now get your winnings two or three minutes after a race, rather than five or six.

When do I know that my bet is paid out?
If you’re betting through your account, you can check the Resulted tab in your bet slip and look for the green tick.

You can also check your account balance, or the results sections on tab.co.nz or the TAB Mobile app to see if the provisional result has been posted.

If you’re watching Trackside, look out for a result graphic on screen that features quinellas, trifectas and other dividends.

This often appears in the minutes after the race. The graphic that appears on screen immediately after the runners cross the line is a guide to the placings, and is not the provisional result.

What is Protest Payout?
Protest Payout means we’ll pay out on both results if there is a change in placings due to relegations and promotions as a result of a protest.

How does that work when an inquiry or protest happens?
If your horse or greyhound is declared a winner in the win or place markets in the provisional results and you have placed a winning fixed odds bet, you will be paid out as soon as the provisional result is declared. If there is a protest and your runner is relegated (not disqualified), then you will keep your money.

Likewise, If a runner subsequently gets promoted into a position where your bet is now a winning one, Protest Payout will apply and you will also be paid out.

What happens when there is a disqualification?
Horses that cross the line in a dividend-bearing position, but are disqualified after the race are not eligible for Protest Payout. While the bets may be settled as winning bets originally, they will be deemed to be losing bets as a result of being disqualified. You may see your balance increase for a short period of time, before reducing when the result is resettled.

Why has there been a delay in paying out my bet?
Sometimes when we think that it is likely that a runner will be disqualified, we will wait for the confirmed result before making payment. Protest Payout does not apply where a runner placed 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th in the provisional result is disqualified.

Is this promotion available through all channels?
Yes. Whether you’re using the TAB Mobile app, tab.co.nz, at your local TAB outlet, at the races, or or using Touchtone, you can benefit from Express Payout.

Why have you made this change?
For almost all races, the provisional result is the final result but we wait to make sure before paying our winning customers. We want to remove this wait for you and return the payouts, particularly as some races can take longer to result than others.

What’s different about Express Payout to the services offered by other wagering operators?
Other operators only offer Express Payout for Fixed Odds win bets, but we’re paying out bets on most Fixed Odds markets.
