Spurs make the trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United on Sunday afternoon and they’ll be hoping to build on their recent return to form. This game kicks off at 4:30pm and takes place at Old Trafford.
Man United
This will be the first game that Sir. Jim Ratcliffe’s will watch live since investing in the club and he’ll be hoping for a positive result. United are never far from the headlines and it’s been another tumultuous season at Old Trafford with manager Erik Ten Haag feeling the pressure following a poor recent run. Despite getting off to a relatively solid start in the north west and being praised for steadying the club last season, the Dutchman has been unable to turn the ship around and the squad remains both incredibly unbalanced and unreliable.

Get it & Bet It Now!Andre Onana may feature here, although he has reportedly been in talks with Cameroon about the possibility of heading to AFCON early whereas Anthony Martial may be potentially unsettled by reported bids from Fenerbahce. Rasmus Hojlund has yet to explode into life although a combination of injuries and a lack of service have held him back.
United have had their moments this season, however, they’ve won just one of their last five PL matches and their routine victory over Wigan in the FA Cup will do little to paper over the cracks.
Generally speaking, United’s home form has been better than their record on the road and they’ve been victorious in four of their last six here. Clean sheets have been difficult to come by in front of their own fans with only Burnley and Wolves having failed to find the net at this venue.
United’s overall record against top ten sides has been fairly woeful this season with just two victories and one draw in nine meetings with sides sat in the top half of the table. This has the potential to be a tricky assignment.
Spurs
Spurs arrive here in decent form and were victorious in the FA Cup last weekend against Burnley. As a result of playing on the Friday night, they have had an additional three days to prepare for this contest and Ange Postecoglu will be looking to use that to his advantage.
The North Londoners have won four of their last five PL matches and they are now just a point behind their rivals Arsenal. With the Gunners not playing this weekend, they will see this as an ideal chance to leap above their foes.
Injuries have hampered Spurs this season and although one or two of these are slowly beginning to ease, they are missing Son, who is away on international duty. Although he may only make the bench on Sunday afternoon, fans will be hoping for a glimpse of recent signing Timo Werner who joined the club on loan from RB Leipzig this week. He was attracted by Ange Postecoglu’s style of football and if he can get himself in the right frame of mind, he could become a hit in North London.
The club will be looking to strengthen further this January and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see another arrival come through the door before this match gets underway on Sunday afternoon.
Although they’ve won three consecutive matches at home, Spurs’ away form remains a bit of a concern. They’ve won just one of their last four on the road and have been breached nine times during that sequence. They were opened up far too easily against Brighton and will have been disappointed to have not taken anything back from Molineux.
Head to Head
Spurs were 2-0 winners when these sides met earlier in the campaign with an own goal from Lisandro Martinez epitomising a disappointing United display. Despite this recent result, the Red Devils have a decent home record against the Lilywhites. They’ve won each of their last two at this venue and were also victorious in December 2019 courtesy of a Marcus Rashford double.
Matches between these two sides usually produce goals and although two of the last three have finished with a 2-0 scoreline, there have been plenty of memorable moments when this pair have faced off. Recent meetings at this venue have finished 3-2, 1-6, 2-1 and 0-3 and that pattern could easily continue at the weekend.

Match Prediction
This should be a really entertaining watch. Neither side will want to lose this contest, however, neither are able to defend. There should be enough firepower on display for this to be a high-scoring affair.
