The final game of Sunday takes place at Anfield as Liverpool host Manchester United. The Red devils have been in the news for the wrong reasons this week and they’ll be hoping to bounce in Merseyside. The match kicks off at 4:30pm UK time.
Liverpool
Liverpool went into this weekend top of the Premier League table and they will be hoping to preserve their place at the summit with a victory over rivals Manchester United. The Reds have been bedding in a new midfield this season and although they’ve had a few testing moments, it’s been largely plain sailing for Jurgen Klopp’s side. The Reds have won each of their last three matches, although they were far from convincing in each of their last two. They did enough to beat the worst side in the division, Sheffield United before coming from behind to see off Crystal Palace at the weekend.

Get it & Bet It Now!Their away form has been slightly patch, however, they can be relied upon at Anfield. They are yet to drop a point here and have netted 3+ goals in six of their first seven matches at this venue. Until Fulham netted three here at the beginning of the month, they’d been foot perfect at the back and had been breached on just two occasions.
Sceptics may point towards the fact that Liverpool have only hosted one side currently sat above ninth in the table, however, that game proved to be a convincing 3-0 victory over an excellent Aston Villa outfit.
Liverpool travel to Belgium on Thursday evening, however, the Reds have already secured their qualification and are expected to make changes for that contest.
Man United
Man United are making headlines on a daily basis recently and that trend continued on Tuesday night as they crashed out of the Champions League. Erik Ten Haag’s side failed to secured a Europa League spot finishing bottom of their group and they will now be able to concentrate on the Premier League.
Erik Ten Haag remains under pressure and questions have been asked about his motivation skills. The Dutchman still has a talented squad at his disposal, yet he has been unable to get the best out of them.
United also have several injury concerns ahead of this tie with both Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw having hobbled off in midweek. Veteran Johnny Evans is likely to start this game, yet it remains to be seen who his central defensive partner will be. Bruno Fernandes is also suspended for this one. Kobbie Mainoo is likely to be given a start whereas Victor Lindelhof may battle through an injury to take his place at the back.
Despite being in a seemingly constant ‘crisis mode’, Man United remain sixth in the table and have won four of their last six Premier League games. Nevertheless, they haven’t beaten anyone above tenth in the table and have lost all three trips to top half opposition.
The Red Devils were also heavily beaten at this venue last season at the beginning of March and they will need to put that heavy and embarrassing defeat out of their heads when they arrive at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
Head to Head
Liverpool were rampant 7-0 winners here when the two sides met at the beginning of March. The Reds were leading by just a single goal at the break, however, they added six second half goals to heap misery upon Erik Ten Haag.
Liverpool have won each of the last two meetings at this venue by an aggregate score of 11-0. Man united have failed to score at Anfield since Jesse Lingard netted here in December 2018.
Liverpool have won three of the last five meetings between these teams. Its been seven matches since these two teams played out a draw.
Key Betting Stat
- Man United are averaging just nine shots per game on the road. They managed just four in their last away trip to Newcastle.
- The Red Devils have failed to score in three of their last four games across all competitions.
- Both of Marcus Rashford’s goals have been scored on the road this season
- Liverpool have been averaging 17.29 shots per game at home so far.
- The Reds have scored 3+ goals in six of their seven home matches
- Eight of Mo Salah’s 11 goals have been netted at Anfield
Match Prediction
Liverpool have been imperious at home this season and although they haven’t looked quite as assured in their recent outings, they should still have too much for a depleted United outfit. They have an excellent record here against this opposition and will likely make changes on Thursday night so the squad should be fairly fresh.
