Aston Villa have enjoyed a positive start to the season and they currently sit sixth in the table coming into this fixture. Unai Emery’s side may have been booted out of the EFL Cup on Wednesday night, yet they’ve only lost twice in the top flight with both defeats coming on the road. They may have been demolished by both Newcastle and Liverpool, yet they’ve also won at both Turf Moor and Stamford Bridge.

At home, it’s been a different story and they’ve netted seven times across their first two matches here. Nevertheless, having only hosted Palace and Everton so far, this is likely to be their toughest home test yet. With an average xG of 1.72 here, they’ve been slightly overachieving in the final third, however, they have a number of talented players who are capable of producing individual moments of magic.
The good news for Villa fans is that they haven’t been reliant on just one or two players with the goals being shared around. Ollie Watkins, Matty Cash, Moussa Diaby, Leon Bailey and Douglas Luiz have all contributed so far.
Brighton
Brighton have been improving year-on-year and are one of the most aesthetically pleasing top flight sides to watch this season. Roberto di Zerbi has not only built on Graham Potter’s work, he’s improved the Seagulls in front of goal and made them far more clinical.
The Sussex side have a superb recruitment policy which allows them to sell their best players and still have a talented enough squad to compete in the top flight.
The Seagulls have won five of their first six PL matches and although their defeat to West Ham exposed their frailties, they have looked exceptionally good going forward. It remains to be seen how their Thursday night commitments in the Europa League affect their season, however, this week, they played 24 hours earlier in the EFL Cup and made a number of changes for their narrow defeat to Chelsea.
Brighton matches have been very entertaining so far and BTTS has landed in each of their opening six matches. They’ve scored seven times on the road and should be able to get on the scoresheet here.
