Two struggling sides meet at Anfield as Liverpool take on Chelsea on Saturday lunchtime.
Liverpool
Jurgen Klopp told reporters that he ‘cannot remember a worse game’ than his side’s 3-0 reverse at the AMEX against Brighton last weekend. The under-pressure German boss will have been much happier with his side’s narrow FA Cup success against Wolves on Tuesday albeit with a heavily rotated XI.

Get it & Bet It Now!The Reds currently sit ninth in the Premier League table and unless they produce a significant upturn in their recent performances, they are unlikely to challenge for a top four spot this season. Despite their poor form, Klopp’s men have suffered just a single home defeat this campaign – a 2-1 defeat to Leeds at the end of October.
January signing Cody Gapko got some minutes under his belt at Molineux on Tuesday evening and although he showed flashes of ability, he may take a few weeks to get up to speed.
Chelsea
Graham Potter admitted he was relieved to see his side pick up a narrow success against Crystal Palace last weekend. The under-fire boss still has plenty of work to do at Stamford Bridge and he is yet to win over the fans in West London.
The former Brighton gaffer has overseen 20 matches across all competitions, winning nine and losing seven. His side have scored just 24 times during that period and they’ve struggled on the road.
They’ve won just three times on their travels this season, and are yet to take maximum points from any of their visits to top half opposition.
Although he hasn’t played much competitive football in recent months, the Blues can call upon new signing Mykhailo Mudryk. Although both Ben Chilwell and Reece James have been back in training this week, this game is likely to come far too soon for the defensive pair.
Head to Head
These two sides met three times in 2022, although this is their first encounter of the 2022-23 campaign.
Each of their last two PL meetings have ended all-square whereas Liverpool were victorious in each of their recent cup meetings.
Chelsea’s last victory at Anfield came in March 2021 (1-0) with Mason Mount netting the winner. Five of the last nine fixtures at this venue have ended in a draw with every single one of those stalemates finishing 1-1.

Match Prediction
Both sides are struggling for form and have been disappointed in recent months. Nevertheless, Liverpool are strong at Anfield and there will be a terrific atmosphere for this lunchtime kick-off. Chelsea’s away form and lack of firepower is a significant concern and with the Reds buoyed by their midweek FA Cup victory, they should be able to take three points.
